Dorothy Lee Wims (Dot) was born in Damascus, Early County, Georgia on September 23, 1941 to the parentage of the late Rev. and Mrs. Lindsey (Jessie) Wims, Sr. She was one of eleven siblings born to this union.

Dorothy moved to Atlanta, Ga in the of year 1971. For many years, upon arriving in Atlanta, she worked for the Hatfield Family. She later moved on to work for the Hirsch Family, where she then retired.
At an early age she surrendered herself to God in love by baptism at, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, under the ministry of Reverend N.K. McKinsey. As a member of the church, Dorothy discovered her role in life through her relationship with Christ. She began her mission on the usher board, in the choir, the Pastor’s Aid Committee, the Board of Trustees, with a final mission of serving on the mother board.
Dorothy Wims transitioned to her heavenly home on July 14th, 2019. Preceding her in death is one son, Alphonso Wynn; her father, Rev. Lindsey Wims, Sr.; five sisters and one brother, Sally D. Wims Plant, Marjorie Marshall, Willie Lee Wims Hadley, Betty J. Wynn Hudson, Marvis V. Wynn McGinty, and Lindsey Wynn, Jr.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her precious memories, one son, Melvin (Angela) Wynn; two daughters, Bloncelia Denise Wynn and Jennifer (Gregory)Wynn-McGinty; her grandchildren, Schawanna Wynn Rooks, Melvin Javar O’Kelley, Tony O’Kelley, Kelvin Wynn, Brian Wynn, Belita Jackson-Colbert, Niketa Wynn, Aundruneshia Sands, Erroll Gerrard Wynn, Rashard Wynn, and Ambria McGinty; one sister, Obbie “Yank” Johnson; three brothers, Ralph (Joanne) Wims, William (Marchita) Wynn, Ulysses (Laura) Wynn; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Among all her attributes in this world, she will mostly be remembered for her warm and welcoming presence, her huge heart for everyone she knew, and her undeniable faith in the Lord.
